Laboratory of electrochemical synthesis

The Laboratory of Electrochemical Synthesis was organized in 2008 on the basis of the electrochemistry team of the Laboratory of Organometallic Synthesis.

The Head of the Laboratory
is Yulia G.Budnikova.

Main research activity

  • Electrosynthesis from elemental phosphorus as a basis for creation of new substances, materials and ecologically safe resource-saving technologies. Advantages of this approach consist in activation due to electron transfer at room temperature, as a result difficult processes can occur in mild conditions. Oxidation and reduction are carried out at an electrode without chemical reagents and are ecologically friendly («green chemistry»).
  • Nanoelectrochemistry, namely elaboration of methods of electrosynthesis of nanosize catalysts with simultaneous identification of intermediates (metal sigma-complexes) for organic synthesis including perfluoroalkylation and cross-coupling, with the remote purpose of obtaining biologically active compounds and medical products, as well as and creation of fuel elements with low content of expensive platinum.
  • Study of redox-switched nanosize molecular devices on the basis of the macrocyclic compounds containing electrochemically active structural blocks.
